Zona is a photo series that started in 2006. It documents industrial zones throughout the world in order to capture a single person’s acquaintances with specific sights. Often these areas are secluded and access to them is restricted, therefore one can only see them from afar. Over time, the repetitive action of recording these sights becomes a ritual of sorts, creating a personal archive.
An industrial zone can have both negative and positive connotations. Its existence may facilitate rapid growth and prosperity in the region, but also destruction and environmental pollution.
As of now, the Zona series contains over 120 photos.
